Combined Federal/State Filing program (CFSFP)
As an eFileMyForms customer, you are automatically enrolled in the
Combined Federal/State Filing program (CFSFP) when you file your 1099 forms
with us. To take advantage of this service, you must fill out form 6847 and submit
this to the IRS.
Through the CFSFP, IRS/MCC will forward original and corrected information
returns, filed electronically or magnetically, to participating states for approved
filers.
To take advantage of this service, you must fill out form 6847 and submit this to the IRS.
Submitting form 6847 will allow your 1099 forms to be submitted to the states that participate
in the program. An overview of participating states, form 6847 instructions and form 6847
itself are provided below.
Please Note: The CFSFP program is only for the IRS forms. Form W2 is an SSA form and not part of the
program, so any required state filing must be done directly with the state. The rules for submitting these forms
varies by state with some states only requiring them under very specific circumstances if at all. As part of the
eFileMyForms print & mail service, a recipient does receive a 4-part form which has a copy that can be included with
their state return. The filer needs to contact the state's tax department or seek advice from a professional to find out if
they need to file the W2 directly with the state. If they do actually need to file with the state, they can print out
the PDF's online for submission to the state.
